The ATAS Monsters of Metal Canstruction® team recently received the Best Meal award during the 2018 Canstruction Lehigh Valley competition.
Team members included employees from Allentown, Pa.-based ATAS International Inc. and an architect from The Architectural Studio, Allentown. This year's theme was aCANemy Awards, where teams were challenged to build structures based on a movie that has been nominated for an Academy Award. The ATAS Monsters of Metal team created a "Wizard of Oz" cansculpture that incorporated a variety of beans, sweet peas, tomato sauce and tomato paste to create a colorful, as well as nourishing, display of food.
Five competing teams used 29,825 cans (30,419 pounds of food) that were donated to Second Harvest Food Bank, which serves about 60,000 people per month through its network of 200 agencies throughout Lehigh Valley, Pa.
