As part of Super Bowl celebrations during a weekend in January, Rebuilding Together® partnered with Lowe’s,® official home improvement retail sponsor of the NFL, to provide critical repairs for nine families in Miami’s West Coconut Grove neighborhood. More than 200 volunteers from local organizations joined NFL players to help preserve the historical neighborhood as part of Kickoff to Rebuild, an annual Super Bowl-sanctioned event.

Led by local nonprofit affiliate Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade, volunteers replaced roof systems, renovated kitchens, installed wheelchair ramps and hurricane-impact windows, and beautified houses with new paint and landscaping. Volunteers also completed the restoration of a neighborhood landmark, Charles Barber Shop, and painted a community wall on Grand Avenue.

Through the Kickoff to Rebuild event held each year for the past 25 years, more than 5,000 volunteers have helped repair 158 homes nationwide.
